The Day Before He's Two

We had his well-baby visit this morning so I had to wake him up to get ready. When I turned on the light in his room to get him changed and dressed, he told me "light too loud, mama." I guess we need to work on the word "bright" huh?

Then he came out to the kitchen and saw grandma's computer sitting on the counter. He got a little worked up and started saying something like "O-C-D" which I thought was awfully funny since it's one of the things that was on my list to talk to with the doctor! I finally figured out that he was telling me that there was a disk popped out of the computer -- "Oh, cd!"

His doc's report was generally good. His weight is at the 10%, height at 40% and head at 75%. So he's staying right on his own curve. He's just a normal height string-bean with a big ole noggin.

She said his verbal ability is several months ahead of the milestone checks (using plurals, naming letters and colors, number of vocabulary words, etc). But as I suspected, he is lagging behind a little with the gross motor skills. He's not, for example, jumping, kicking a ball, or walking steps unassisted. We'll be sure to concentrate a little more on those things as the weather gets nicer. It'll be interesting to see what Sandi's Denver tests show after our visit next week.

Since he got up early, he ended up napping really early. So, when he woke up at 12:30, I called Christy and asked her if we could still attend the MOMS Club Valentine's party. She said to come on over, so we went and played and ate cookies and candy hearts.

On the way home, Jack started singing along with the Sesame Street cd. Today was the first day that I knew for sure that he was singing along with the actual words of the song. And what song does he pick? "I Love Trash" with Oscar the Grouch! Silly goose!

Tonight is our yearly trip to IHOP for dinner. I can't believe that it was two years ago that I decided that I'd like to have pancakes before checking into the hospital.

Here's our little man drawing at his easel. He's into making dots now. I'm calling it his "pointilism" phase!
