More doin's in Jack's world, Jan. 25, 2005

The past few days have been pretty eventful, so today we're taking a day off and staying home to try to get some things done. It was so warm here this afternoon that we played outside in the sandbox for almost an hour and then took a walk with the wagon.

Here's what else we've been up to...

Last week on Friday, we went to Googol's of Fun with Miranda, Erin and Diego, and then John joined us for lunch at El Matador. Jack had lots of fun running after Miranda, climbing the play structure with Diego, and then eating beans and rice for lunch. After nap time, we made stick puppets of all Jack's family so that maybe he can finally start saying everybody's name!

After dinner, Jim, Jack and I went to the Merc. Jack got to push one of the little shopping carts that they have there and he loved that, but he really wanted to put EVERYTHING in sight into his cart. We won't be doing that again for awhile! =)

Saturday was a busy day, too. Jack and Jim went to the Daddy and Me playgroup while I got to work on the house and laundry. It was nice to get some things done without the Munchkin saying my name every three seconds! Then we had dinner with Rachel, Tracy and cousin Luke. They came over after dinner and we all played for awhile.

Sunday morning, we got up early, took the truck in for an oil change, and then we went to the Fairgrounds for Eagle Day. We got to see lots of Kansas critters -- a hawk, a crow, lots of turtles and frogs and snakes, oh my! It was too cold to go see the eagles at the lake, though. Maybe next year. Jack didn't want to cooperate for nap time, so we took him for a ride in the car so he could snooze and Jim and I could get out and enjoy the scenery in our new car.

On Monday, Jack and I went to Toddler Open Gym, but we were the only ones there from our group! Jack is finally figuring out how to do some of the things by himself. He can get in and out of the playcar, he can make it move (backwards mostly, but still...), and he can *almost* do the slide by himself, too. If only it had a place for him to grab on while he gets his legs out from under him. Then I had a lot of MOMS Club stuff to do -- banking and copying -- and we grabbed some rice and beans from Chipotle. YUM!

He's saying new words all day everyday. We've started a list of them so that I can make a "portrait of Jack at 2 years" scrapbook page (someday), and we're already over 100 words. He's making some fun combinations, too. It's so much fun to watch and listen to him figure out how to make himself understood, but awfully frustrating for all of us when he's trying to say something that we don't understand.

He also has taken to putting his "LaBo" in a little cloth bag and carrying them around the house with him. He's very cute with his "LoBo bag." He also loves to stand outside and watch the trucks ("wows") at the end of the block doing their thing. He gets very excited listening to the birdies (buh-DEEs) and pointing to them in the trees (up REES). I have a hard time getting him into the car sometimes! He's also learned how to "blow us down" and laughs and laughs when we play along.
