Tomorrow we'll go to the Fair
There's a song on Jack's going-to-sleep CD that he's listened to ever since he was born called "Tomorrow We'll Go to the Fair".
We'll ride painted horses with wind in our hair
We'll always remember the laughter we share
The sooner you sleep, the sooner you'll wake
Tomorrow we'll go to the fair
Jack has asked about when the fair was coming back about a gazillion times since last year. So even though Thursday was Jim's last day of being employed, we decided that we would go to family night at the fair anyway. We bought the one-price bracelet and Jack rode the rides for over 3 hours straight.
We started with the rides made for the littler kids like the merry-go-round and the motorcycles, the bouncy house and the flying saucer.

But then he was ready for the little more advanced stuff like the buggy ride that really bounced around and the swings. On both of those rides, I wanted him to take a look to see what they were like before riding, but he didn't want to wait. He looked a little uncertain at first on both of those rides, but by the second or third revolution, he was having a ball.

Jack thought the swing was especially fun. He rode around the first time holding on tight to the chains and looking scared, but by his fourth time, he was holding his arms out wide pretending to be flying. One time, he did his rock and roll dance the whole time, and once he spent most of the ride leaning way out and watching the ground fly by under his feet. The swing was a big hit, needless to say.
We were just getting ready to leave when I asked Jack one last time if he was absolutely sure he didn't want to ride the roller coaster since he wouldn't get another opportunity for a whole year. He was dubious, but decided to try. His first trip around, he looked like this:

and I was just sure he was going to be pretty darn mad at me. But when he got off, I asked him, "Was it a yes or a no?" He yelled, "YESSSSSS!!!" and proceeded to go on three more times in a row. By the end, he looked like this:
and he was awfully sad that it was 11:00 and time to leave.
He was one happy and tired kid, but managed to stay awake all the way home so that we could have koolaid popsicles at home. This picture sums up what he looked like just about all evening.
I'm sure glad we decided to go.
